Established in 1984 in Taiwan, Roundtop Machinery Industries Co., Ltd. has become one of the leading CNC machine tool manufacturers around the world. Rountop, or better known as “Johnford”, is a publicly listed company that offers a wide range of CNC machine tools in order to meet every customer’s needs in different types of industries. MILESTONES

In the course of our company history, Rountop has make a great number of achievements ever since the company was established in 1979. However, we do not simply enjoy the status quo, we’ve always set every single day as an opportunity to create greater products for our customers.
  • 2023
    +
    1. SLM-120A+B+C+Y multitasking turn-mill machine, another 5-axis turn-mill machine, was successfully developed and commissioned. This is a bigger version of the SLM-65-2SD+B+C+Y multitasking turn-mill machine.
  • 2022

    1. SDMC-18000x6300x1400+W2200 sliding double-column(portal) machining center was successfully developed and commissioned. This is a humongous portal machining center that is over 27 m long, 9 m high, and 11 m wide. With various milling heads, there is nothing this machine cannot make.
    2. SLM-65-2SD+B+C+Y multitasking turn-mill machine was successfully developed and commissioned. This is our first attempt at making a turn-mill machine with a machine bed and headstock column at 90° angles. This type of machine is capable of 5-axis machining as well.
  • 2020

    1. SMC-2800-2H, another twin-spindle drilling machine, was successfully developed and commissioned.
    2. UMC-730T was successfully developed and commissioned. This is a mill-turn machine that is not only able to do simultaneous 5-axis machining, but also able to do turning operations with its powerful tilting rotary table.

    1. VDM-1600-2H was successfully developed and commissioned. This is a special turn-mill machine with a Ø1,600 mm rotary turning table with table movement that is capable of simultaneous 5-axis machining. It is equipped with two cutting heads: one is an electro 2-axis milling-turning spindle, and the other is a RAM-type headstock for deep turning and heavy turning.

    1. SMC-4200-2H was successfully developed and commissioned. This special-purpose machine is made for drilling, tapping, and milling large-sized bearings, such as slewing bearings as large as Ø4,200 mm. The machine is equipped with twin spindles that can machine simultaneously or independently to optimize the cycle time or flexibility.

    1. HT-35-2SD+C+Y multi-axis horizontal turning center equipped with BMT&VDI twin spindle and twin turret was successfully developed.
    2. ST-80CX+B+C+Y (2m) large horizontal turning center was successfully developed.

    1. VTC-800/1000ATC+C+multi-station APC vertical turning center was successfully developed.
    2. CAPTO 8 on the B axis for heavy-duty work was successfully developed.

    1. ST-400B-2D (10m w/ twin turrets) large horizontal turning center was successfully developed
    2. SDMC-16000x6000x1500+W sliding double-column(portal) machining center was successfully developed. This model features a hydrostatic sliding system on X axis, the W-axis on the cross beam, and a 3-meter & 40-ton hydrostatic rotary table

    VMC-1300SH/1600SH vertical machining center equipped with B axis milling heads FMBC-160 boring machining center equipped with a square ram & a hydrostatic rotary table
  • 2012

    “Direct-drive spindle, machining centers, and their manufacturing method” was patented in Italy.
  • 2011

    “Rail-type Double Column Multi-Axis Machining Center” was patented in R.O.C.
  • 2010

    “Direct-drive spindle, machining centers, and their manufacturing method” was patented by China. In October, the “Hydrostatic Bearing Safety System” was patented in R.O.C. in a newer version.

    “Direct-drive spindle, machining centers, and their manufacturing method” was patented in the U.S.A. & R.O.C.

    New models of 5-axis and 5-face heads were developed. ERP system was introduced to create an e-management. In addition, we developed a system called PDM in order to conduct e-management for R&D.

    SDMC-28000-2H sliding double-column(portal) machining center was developed.

    US$24,000,000 was invested to construct the third factory to manufacture more giant machines.

    Received the award “A” class registered for CNC lathes from the International Trade Institute, Ministry of Economy. And the factory was also awarded “A” factory by the same institute.
  • 1989

    Factory expansion was made to increase productivity. In addition, the Hewlett-Packard HP-3000 system was purchased to conduct computerized management.
  • 1984

    The company was established to produce conventional lathes. In the following year, the production of CNC lathes and vertical machining centers began.
